Sovereign AI Australia

Australian sovereign AI, built for business

Sovereign AI means the service, the data and the processing all stay inside one country’s jurisdiction. For HeyMi that country is Australia: hosted in Sydney, stored in Australia, processed in Australia, on models Mattingly hosts rather than a third-party AI service overseas.

The chain

Follow your data. It never leaves

Four steps from a question typed in your office to an answer, with no point at which the information crosses a border.

01

Your people

In your offices and on your sites, asking questions in a browser.

02

Australian hosting

HeyMi runs in Sydney. The connection is encrypted; the destination is domestic.

03

Mattingly’s private cloud

Processing happens inside our own environment, on models we host. No external AI API is called.

04

Storage in Australia

Your data and its backups are held in Australia, and deleted when you say so.

The distinction

Sovereignty is more than hosting

Hosting is about where the servers sit. Sovereignty also covers where the model runs, where the processing happens, who can reach the data, and whether anything is handed to a provider outside the country. A service can be hosted in Australia and still send your question overseas to be answered.

HeyMi is hosted within Mattingly’s private cloud environment on AWS infrastructure in Sydney.

Three questions worth asking any vendor

Where is the data stored? Where does the processing happen? And whose model answers the question? A vendor who can only answer the first one has told you about hosting.

Substantiated

The claims, one by one

Every line here is a statement of fact about how the service runs, not a description of our intentions.

Hosted in Sydney, Australia
Your data is stored in Australia
Your data does not leave Australia
Processing happens inside Mattingly’s private cloud environment
Models are hosted by Mattingly, not called from an external AI service
Backups are held in Australia

Not a government certification

There is no Australian government certification called sovereign AI, and no seal to display. It is a description of where the data and the processing live, which is why this page publishes the facts instead of a badge. Australian residency is increasingly a condition in tenders, customer agreements and board risk registers, and it is easier to answer when the answer is simply yes.

Questions

Sovereign AI, answered

Sovereign AI means the AI service, the data it holds and the processing it performs all remain within one country’s jurisdiction. For HeyMi that country is Australia: hosted in Sydney, stored in Australia, processed in Australia, on models Mattingly hosts itself instead of an AI service based overseas.

No. Customer data is stored in Australia and does not leave Australia. Backups are held in Australia. Processing occurs within Mattingly’s private cloud environment in Sydney.

No, and this is the distinction that matters. Hosting is about where the servers sit. Sovereignty also covers where the model runs, where the processing happens, who can reach the data and whether anything is passed to a provider outside the country. A service can be hosted in Australia and still send your question overseas to be answered.

No. None of them. HeyMi runs models that Mattingly hosts and operates inside its own environment in Sydney. Your questions and your data are not sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, AWS Bedrock or any other external AI provider’s API. AWS provides the underlying infrastructure, the same way it would for any Australian-hosted application, but no external AI service sits in the path of your question.

No. There is no Australian government certification called sovereign AI, and any vendor implying otherwise is overreaching. It is a description of where the data and the processing live, which is why we publish the specific facts instead of a badge.
